New York is a city with a special beauty and spirited style and is so
diverse and full of countless sights and attractions, that we will be covering
the magic of the city in 10 articles.

New York City with its hustle and bustle remains my choice
for most favourite city in the world to visit.
I truly believe the city lives in the people and it is the one place in
the world where I have to venture out soon after arrival to explore and try new
things.
They say if you cannot find something in New York, then you won’t find
it at all.
The city never sleeps and there is a 24 hour buzz evident in the hustle
and bustle and traffic can be really bad. Hit 5th Ave and everybody
seems to be in a rush.
New York has millions of annual visitors both from abroad and domestic.
This makes it hard to tell who the real New Yorkers are.
Don’t feel surprised by anything.
People speak a “funny” English or New York style ‘American.”
You also find very unique street beggars that will guarantee a good
laugh. Personally I have been a victim of a “New York stick up,” as the man
called it. The guy shouted, pulled a banana on us and demanded that we hand
over all our change.
I also heard a story from a friend who was asked if he had any change
and after receiving his donation the beggar promptly responded: “Is that all
you’ve got and then he impolitely posed the question to my friend “Why don’t
you go get yourself a job.”
You may also experience another culture shock with similar behaviour
from your Taxi Cab Driver where you can expect to find anything from a
Pakistani- to an Afghan National speaking broken English. So please don’t tip
them with coins.
Five New York attractions that visitors
overlook
Brooklyn
You may pass through Brooklyn with a bus, but Brooklyn worth exploring
on foot.
The suburb is really packed with plenty of good restaurants and shops
and it is quitter and without the foot traffic.
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge provides a fantastic view and a
worthwhile and memorable experience.
Here knowledge is at your fingertips when you step into the grand New York Public Library. Founded in 1895, the New York Public Library is a stunning example of architecture both inside and out, making for one rather incredible reading venue!
Have a wander around the grand halls, admiring the
frescoed ceilings and tall stacked shelves of books, before settling in with a
good book for the afternoon.
Over the years, New York has been a port of entry
for millions of immigrants, and the Tenement Museum is a peek
into the life of the people who crossed the sea to start a new life for
themselves. Learn about how immigrants lived after moving to New York with a
guided tour around the museum or simply wander around the building at your own
leisure. The Tenement Museum is housed in an apartment block that has seen over
7,000 immigrants come and go since the 1900s.
This park remains a big hit with students and
artists, Washington Square Park is
the perfect spot for an afternoon of picnicking and leisurely sunbathing. Just
a quick walk from East Village, once you arrive at Washington Square Park
you’ll be able to cool off by the famous fountain or enjoy one of the many
attractions which pass through the park, from live music shows to local artists
working on their latest creations.
No matter whether you’re travelling in the summer
or winter, Washington Square Park is a great alternative to Central Park.

your ticket also extends to The Cloisters?
Located in the Washington Heights section of Upper Manhattan, the Cloisters is
a scenic museum that showcases medieval architecture whilst overlooking the
Hudson River.
Between 1934 and 1939 a collection of stunning
European abbeys were disassembled and shipped to New York and now make up the
bulk of the Cloisters museum. It’s a bit of a mission to get there, but well
worth it.
